One warm Saturday evening in June, I was sitting in a beer garden in New Jersey working on an episode about 10 Best Things in New York City for the Honest Guide's YouTube channel, and I got an email with an offer I couldn't have refused. Stefan Roesch, the author of The Experiences of Film Location Tourists, invited me to speak at a film tourism conference in Amman, Jordan to help Jordanian film and tourism authorities capitalize on film production and tourism and explore the country's vast array of film locations firsthand. Two years of hard work on film tourism projects in the Czech Republic have not been forgotten, I thought to myself.
Fast forward two months, I was sitting on a plane and ready to begin my journey in Jordan's cultural hub and the capital city of Amman. As always, I came equipped with my camera excited to explore what the city has to offer. On top of that, I knew we'd visit Petra, the Nabataean UNESCO world heritage site, explore the Wadi Rum desert valley and take a dip in the Dead Sea, which means a sweeping variety of incredible photo opportunities.
Take a look at a selection of my 30 favorite shots captured during this 7-day long adventure in Jordan, the cultural crossroads of the Levant, the land where the sun rises.
